Jason King
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Jason has over two decades of leadership experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. His background includes leading significant growth and engaging communities, particularly in challenging periods, merging visions and resources to enhance community well-being.
Jason’s experience includes an MBA with a specialization in human resources management, a Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Biblical and Theological Studies, and a Certified Executive Business Coach (CEC) through Royal Roads University, which has provided a strong foundation for his commitment to ethical leadership and social responsibility. Jason’s approach to leading teams is servant leadership rooted in the belief that people matter, driving him to foster environments where individuals can thrive. Additionally, In December 2019, Jason was recognized as one of the Top 50 Under 50 in Fort McMurray.
Joining BGC offers an exciting avenue for Jason to leverage his past experiences toward broadening the impact of the organization’s vital services. His goal is to ensure every child and young person in our community has the opportunity to reach their full potential in a nurturing environment.
Jason’s passions outside work include quad rides with his wife, reading, and practicing jiu jitsu, where he has achieved a brown belt. These activities reflect Jason’s dedication to personal growth and well-being, mirroring his professional commitment to empowering our youth.
CAITLIN NEWMAN
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Originally from Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Caitlin moved to the Wood Buffalo Region in 2018. With a desire for social change, a love of serving youth, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, Caitlin joined the BGC team as the Youth Programs Coordinator. Bringing a strong work ethic and a passion for developing people, Caitlin transitioned to the role of Director of Operations. Caitlin thrives on building long-lasting relationships, inspiring a positive work environment, and creating programs where children and youth can be empowered, experience new opportunities, and create connections with their peers and mentors.
GRACE SMITH
CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Born and raised in the Philippines, Grace made her way to Canada in 2005 before moving to the urban centre of Wood Buffalo in 2009. Shortly after she arrived in the region, Grace joined BGC Fort McMurray and has been here ever since. With a degree in Social Work, Grace has dedicated much of her time to early childhood development and recognizes that we learn as much from children as they learn from us. Grace feels very proud to be part of such an amazing group of educators that make up the team at BGC. Through her leadership of childcare programs, Grace supports the social and emotional development of each child and ensures that they all receive the best care and love they deserve.
