ZAP Out of School Care Program is one of the three main programs of the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club. It is a non- profit program that is Alberta licensed and accredited for childcare. Our program provides high quality and affordable childcare and inclusive care programs that is both enriching and supportive for children, families, staff and community.
Our program is based on Alberta Child Care Accreditation Standards. We provide a variety of activities suitable for school age children that focuses on social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development. We deliver our programs in the following forms:
- Before & After School Care
- School Break Camps
- Summer Camps
At ZAP Summer camp, children will experience a welcoming and fun environment in which they will be nurtured to learn, grow and use their imagination. Each week has an exciting theme that teaches children a new topic and integrates physical activity.
Upcoming Program Integrations
PowerUp! (October 2018)
For children aged 6 –12
Power Up! is an academic support program that helps kids develop positive study habits and practices at school, and encourages a life-long interest in learning. Participants are given the tools and environment necessary to plan for academic goals, and are helped along the way by volunteer tutors and mentors.
STEAM Ahead (September 2018)
For children 8 to 12 years old.
STEAM Ahead is based on STEAM, which includes activities focused on developing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.
